Smoky Paprika Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges

Bold, earthy, and endlessly snackable—these smoky sweet potato wedges hit the perfect balance between crisped edges and creamy centers. The smoked paprika adds depth without overpowering the natural sweetness, and a touch of garlic powder rounds it all out. They make a killer side dish, but let’s be honest: they also make an excellent dinner when paired with a dipping sauce and zero guilt.

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes (about 1.5–2 lbs), scrubbed and unpeeled

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (more to taste)

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Optional: pinch of cayenne for heat

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

  2. Slice sweet potatoes into thick wedges—aim for 8 per potato. Try to keep them uniform for even cooking.

  3. Season: In a large bowl, toss the wedges with oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using) until well coated.

  4. Arrange: Spread the wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they’re not crowded. Flip any skin-side pieces for maximum crisp.

  5. Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until the edges are golden brown and crisp and the centers are tender.

  6. Serve hot, with a squeeze of lime or a drizzle of tahini if you're feeling fancy.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra crisp? Dust with a tablespoon of cornstarch before roasting.

  • Add herbs: Fresh thyme or rosemary works well—just toss them in during the last 10 minutes.

  • Dipping ideas: Try with chili-lime tahini, garlic aioli, or Greek yogurt + lemon zest.

Leftovers: Smart Reheats

  • Reheat in a 400°F oven or air fryer for 5–8 minutes to restore crispiness.

  • Toss into salads or grain bowls the next day.

  • Wrap them up with greens and hummus in a tortilla for a lunch-worthy wrap.

Special Diet Notes

  • Naturally gluten-free and vegan

  • Low-Glycemic: Lower blood sugar spike than regular white potatoes

  • Nightshade Sensitivity? Use sweet paprika instead of smoked and skip the cayenne

Crispy, golden, and deeply satisfying. These wedges are everything oven fries should be—and then some.
